The Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio has postponed the plan to launch the 250-300cc motorcycles into the Indian market. Lately, Managing Director Diego Graffi, Piaggio India says that they are planning to introduce 250-300cc bikes for India. A new report, suggests that the bikemaker has delayed the plans of the production of the bike. The company officials have not specified the reason for this delay, but we guess that it is related to the development of a new platform. These products will be developed by keeping India in the main focus. These bikes will going to be world-class products and will be sold in the international markets too. Aside from India, East Asian countries will also be going to be the main target of the upcoming Aprilia’s 300 cc bikes.

The Indian two-wheeler market is now targeting bigger capacity motorcycles. Previously, the 200-400cc bike segments in India got quite popular, and many Indian bikemakers introduce products for the domestic market. Now, the Italian bike maker Aprilia is planning to target this segment. Currently, the 200-400 cc segments in India are majorly entertained by Royal Enfield, which holds around 99% of the total market share in the segment. Talking about the sales, in the last financial year, Royal Enfield has retailed around 7,64,012 bikes out of 7,73,885 bikes in 250-350 cc segment.

As we have told you before that there is no confirmation for Aprilia regarding their plans to introduce 250-300cc bikes for the Indian market. One can expect the bike manufacturer to showcase the motorcycle at the upcoming 2020 EICMA motor show in November. Into the Indian market, it’ll be quite difficult for Aprilia to compete against well-established brands like Yamaha, TVS and KTM. In other news, Aprilia has also showcased their upcoming maxi-scooter SXR 160, which is expected to launch into the Indian market by the end of this year.
