Honda CBF Stunner- Test Ride Review

10/07/2019 | Honda Stunner CBF
Here is the test ride review of the Honda CBF Stunner on the basis of design, engine and performance.

Design and looks

The Honda CBF Stunner was launched back in 2008 in India when the trend for a sporty looking bike just started. The bike looks like a mini Karizma. The reason why I am saying Honda Stunner mini Karizma is because the sporty-looking Honda bike is not blessed with a powerful engine like Karizma. The Honda CBF Stunner is a 125cc, fully faired bike. The bike is a looker from every angle. Out of 10, I would give 9 to Stunner in terms of looks and styling. Upfront, the bike gets smart-looking halogen headlight along with side indicators. The fuel tank is well sculpted which employs some unique graphics. The sporty shrouds fuse up well with the overall design language of the bike and enhance its premium quotient.  In terms of dimensions, the Honda CBF Stunner is 2,012 mm long, 734 mm wide, 1,111 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,271 mm. Moreover, the motorcycle tips the scales at 128 kg.

Out of 10, I would give 9 to Stunner in terms of looks and styling.

The fuel-filler cap is the conventional unit which is equipped on the regular Honda bikes. The Hero Stunner is being offered on four stunner colour shades namely Sports Red, Pearl Sports Yellow, Candy Palm Green and Black. The instrument cluster comprises of an analogue speedometer with trip meter and odometer on the left along with a fuel gauge and neutral light on the right. Honda has also provided a choke with the instrument console to kick start the bike in extreme weather conditions. I personally like the step-up split seat along with upright handlebar which provides a sporty as well as a comfortable riding experience. Completing the overall picture with a decent looking rear which employs a single piece grab rail, stop light and side indicators. The blacked-out exhaust is covered with chrome exhaust cover which looks quite upmarket. The yellow coloured rear suspension looks a bit weird and aftermarket.

The bike gets premium looking features like aggressive black alloys along with 240 mm disc brake. Moreover, the bike features a single gear shifter which will offer the rider a much more sporty riding experience. The switchgear and plastic quality around the instrument console are satisfactory. Moreover, the paint quality and the quality of parts is top-notch.

Engine and performance

The engine powering the Honda CBF Stunner is the tweaked unit which powers the Shine. The engine develops 11 bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 11 Nm of twisting force at 6,500 rpm. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed gearbox which consists one down and four upshifts. The fuel tank is big enough to store 10-litres of fuel at once and the motor is efficient to provide a mileage of 50 kmpl. The bike can touch a top speed of 101 kmph.

The engine is quite smooth and peppy and, the transmission makes light work to travel. The engine performs pretty well and, it's economical too. A rider may feel a bit of crunch while riding at lowers RPM's because the bike produces torque much higher. The transmission will offer smooth shifts only the upper gears.

Rear shot of the bike

The suspension system is capable enough to effortlessly counter the uneven patches.

The motorcycle is being offered in the disc and non-disc variants. The braking duties in the disc brake variant are done by a 240 mm disc at the front and 130 mm disc at the rear. Moreover, the suspension system comprises of telescopic forks up front along with 3 Step Spring Loaded Hydraulic shock at the rear. The suspension system is capable enough to effortlessly counter the uneven patches. Moreover, the disc brakes work quite effectively in controlling the speed of the bike. The sporty alloys come wrapped with tubeless MRF Nylogrip tyres, 80/100-17 M/C 46P section tyre at the front and 100/90-17 M/C 55P at the rear. The wheels are not that bulky, but it provides a satisfactory amount of road grip. Moreover, the higher positioned rear seat can be a bit problematic for the long-distance rides.

Verdict

Honda CBF Stunner is actually a stunner. This motorcycle is another best attempt by Honda after the Unicorn. And this motorcycle is capable of turning heads. The disc brake variant of the stunner with alloy wheels carries a price tag of Rs 50,037(on-road). The bike looks like a fully-faired 200cc sports bike except it has some subtle quality issues. The stunner is best for the entry-level riders looking for a cool looking bike with a motor which can be controlled easily. The bike has now discontinued by the company. We are doing this review because many people still anticipate buying this motorcycle. The main reason behind the popularity of this bike between motorcyclists is its sporty looks.
